AMT Planner
AMT Planner is a modern, browser-based approach to short-term maintenance scheduling. From AMT 9.1 onwards, you now have a choice between continuing to use the existing Windows Client Short-term Planning (STP) functionality or adopting the new AMT Planner.
AMT Planner does not change the fundamental scheduling concepts that users are familiar with—events, work orders, operations, and labour assignments remain the core building blocks. What it changes is how planners interact with them. AMT Planner provides a highly visual, interactive planning canvas that supports drag-and-drop scheduling, real dependencies, cost visibility, bulk operations, and fast persistent filtering, all within a responsive web interface.
This shift is not purely cosmetic. As maintenance environments become more complex and interconnected, planners increasingly need to explore “what-if” scenarios quickly, understand resource and cost impacts visually, and coordinate work across multiple assets and fleets in tight planning windows. AMT Planner has been designed to support these workflows more naturally, while still synchronising all changes back to the core AMT engine.
While AMT Planner is intended to replace the Windows Client STP over time, adoption is optional. However, for a given deployment, you must choose either AMT Planner or the Windows Client STP, as both cannot be used concurrently against the same scheduling data.
Scope of this release
In version 9.1, AMT Planner focuses specifically on Short-term Planning (STP) for mobile equipment. It supports both advanced planning assets (where downtime is captured through events) and standard planning assets (where work orders are scheduled independently).
Future releases will expand Web Planner's capabilities to include:
-
Fixed Plant scheduling
-
Long-term Planning
-
Deeper integration with AMT4SAP and other external systems
-
Finer-grained resource assignment (labour activities and individual employees)
Understanding the scope of AMT Planner is important; the concepts and workflows described are intentionally focused on STP and mobile equipment, which is where AMT Planner delivers immediate value.
