It will sometimes be easier to create a range that contains the records that you do not want compared to creating a range that contains the records that you do want. For example, consider a deposit that contains a number of benches (below). To create a range that contains all benches except bench 1100 and bench 1004, you would need to select the remaining benches in the structure tree, as shown the following Range Selection window:
Another way to create the desired range is to first create the Inverse of the Range. The inverse of the previous range is shown in the following Range Selection window:
On the left hand side of the Range Selection window, there is a check box labelled "Enable Inverse of Range". If this check box is selected, XPAC will create an inverse of the selected range. The inverted range will be called "Inverse of <Range Name>". Note that when you highlight this inverse range, its contents are not displayed. You must always view the original range that you inverted to determine its contents. Similarly, if you edit the original range, then its inverse range will also be modified.
