Simplify a road

The Simplify Roads function (in the Tools section on the Ribbon) is useful when multiple nodes are used to build a road or if there is a break in the road. You can auto connect a road if there is a break in the road or to merge multiple nodes together.

1. Select the area of road or nodes to be simplified.

   Multiple nodes can be selected at the same time by
   - selecting Select > Rectangle
   - selecting a node and holding down the Ctrl key and selecting each node
   - selecting a range by Shift + clicking the first road segment in the range, and then Shift + clicking the last road segment in the range.
   

2. Click Simplify Roads on the ribbon.
   The Simplification Settings dialog box displays.
   
3. To simplify the road select the Simplify check box and enter in the required horizontal and vertical tolerances.
   
4. Click Simplify. The road will simplify.

Examples

Given the scenario below:

There are two nodes for the Auto Connect functionality:

• If Snap to projected point is selected, one of the segments will be stretched to here it would intersect to the other.

  

• Otherwise, the roads will be joined to the closest point.
