The Calendar Wizard assumes that Level 1 in your calendar database is Years. In this field enter the number of years that you want to be created at the first level of your database. Remember to add one more year than you require so that the length of the last required time period can be determined from the start dates. If you do not want Year as your first level then you will need to manually set up your calendar.
The start date for the first time period must be entered so the Calendar Wizard can determine all of the start dates for the subsequent time periods.
The starting date should be entered in the same format as the start date field in your calendar database. A starting time cannot be entered as part of the date.
The number of levels for your Calendar database is set in this field. Use the up and down arrow buttons to change the number. As you change the number of levels, some of the options below will change.
The minimum number of levels that can be assigned is one and the maximum is four. If you want to create more than four levels, you will need to create them manually.
The level names that are displayed in this list will vary according to the number of levels that have been set in the field above. If the level names that you require are not listed, then you will need to manually set up your calendar. The level names listed will be various combinations of Year, Tri-Semester, Quarter, Month and Week. Click on the radio button to select a set of level names.
Up to three items are displayed for the fields "Next x Years Detailed to Level n", depending on the number of levels that you have set for your calendar.
The fields are used to define how much detail is required for each year in your calendar. The first of the three items available in the list stores the number of years that must be split into the lowest level of detail. The second of the three items stores the number of years that must be split into the second lowest level of detail, and so on. To change the number of years, enter a number in the cell.
Up to three items are displayed for the fields "Name of First Year", etc, depending on the number of levels that you have set for your calendar.
The name can contain letters and spaces, and should contain a number which can be incremented for all subsequent records. Some examples are provided below.
Name of first year |
1999, Yr2002, 99/00 |
---|---|
Name of first tri-sem |
Tri1 |
Name of first quarter |
Qtr 1, 1st Qtr |
Name of first week |
Week 1, Wk5 |
Note that the name of the first month is automatically obtained from the starting date. Months are named using a three letter code, namely Jan, Feb, Mar, etc.
If Week is included as one of the levels in the Calendar Wizard, the Start of Week option will be available. Use this option to define the day on which the time period called Week begins. Use the drop down list to select a day for the Start of Week.
If Week is included as one of the levels in the Calendar Wizard, the All Weeks 7 Days option will be available.
Some sites may want to start a new Week time period at the start and end of the month, regardless of what day it is in the week. In this case you should not tick the box for All Weeks 7 Days. If you want the Week time period to include a full seven days, regardless of when the month ends then, then you should tick the box for All Weeks 7 Days.
The information supplied on the Calendar Wizard screen can be used to determine the start date for each time period in the calendar. This start date is stored in a Calendar database data field. To set the start date, select a data field from the Select Date Field drop down list.
