Various modes of protection can be assigned to each data field within a database, namely:

None;
Edit;
Script; and
Both.

The data field protection is set by clicking the protection column of the relevant data field and then clicking the down arrow to display the pull down list. Regardless of which protection option is selected, data can always be modified using the import facility where data is imported from a file.

An explanation of how each protection option functions is provided below.

None

This protection option offers no form of protection for the data contained in the data field. The data can be modified by import, XCM or manually.

Edit

Edit protection on a data field means that the data cannot be manually altered. Data may still be modified by import or XCM.

Script

Script protection prevents a data field from being modified via an XCM. Data may still be modified manually or using import.

Both

When the protection is set to Both, a data field is protected against manual and XCM modifications. Data may still be modified using import.
