Data field notes are used to store details about each of your data fields. For example, it could be used to record where the data has come from, such as imported from a specified file, manually entered with the data source described or assigned by a specified XCM. The date that the data was last updated could also be entered.

Data field notes are not normally displayed in the data field design window. To display them and to enter information into the note field you should access data field design, select Edit > Data Field Notes from the application menu. Data field notes are displayed in between the Protection and Example columns.

Once the note column is displayed, text can be entered for any data field. The text may be up to 255 characters in length. The note will be saved when you save the data field design. Each time you access data field design, the note column will be displayed until it is turned off. To turn the data field note off, select Edit > Data Field Notes. This menu option works as a toggle switch, turning the display on and off.
