Importing spatial data using the Spatial Data Wizard

Previous topic Next topic

XPAC lets you use the Spatial Data Wizard to import data from geological modelling programs (for example, Vulcan, AutoCAD, Datamine) and text files so that you can create spatial data plots. You can use the Spatial Data Wizard to import data from:

fixed width files
delimited files
Vulcan (*.00t)
AutoCAD (*.dxf).

XPAC lets you import spatial data from geological modelling programs such as Vulcan, Datamine, AutoCAD, and so on. By importing spatial data, you can use the tools available in XPAC to generate visual representations so that you can review and evaluate the information that you set up in your project (see Spatial data plots for more information).

Note

Before importing spatial data into XPAC, you will need to prepare the data. For example, you will need to prepare and/or export files from Vulcan (or another program), or prepare delimited or fixed width files to ensure a successful import into your XPAC project. See Exporting spatial data from mining data sources for more information.

Import settings templates

To save time, you may want to consider saving your import settings when using the wizard. You can do this by clicking Load/Save Template in the wizard.XPAC saves your settings to the database so that you can access it at a later time, or in another part of the project. See Using settings templates to import and export spatial data for more information.
