There are a number of ways that you can
When you create a new project, by default it will have one scenario called Scenario A. You can add a new scenario to your project as follows.
• | Go to schedule setup and click on the Scenarios tab on the bottom left of the window. |
• | Click on the name of one of the existing scenarios within the tree. The complete list of scenarios will then be displayed on the right pane of the window. |
• | Click the New button and a new scenario will be created. |
• | The new scenario will be in the list on the right pane of the window and in the scenario tree structure on the left pane of the window. The default scenario name in the left pane will be highlighted, so you can either immediately type in a new name for the scenario or you can press Enter to accept the default name. |
The new scenario is now ready for data to be assigned.
It is possible to change the order of your scenarios in the tree structure. To move a scenario, click the left mouse button on its name and hold the mouse button down to drag the scenario to a new position. As you drag the scenario around the tree structure, the nearest scenario name will be highlighted. When you release the mouse button, the scenario being moved will be positioned underneath the currently highlighted scenario.
To delete a scenario from your project click on the name of any of the scenarios in the tree structure, so that the list of scenarios is displayed on the right pane of the schedule setup window. Click on the scenario that you want to delete on the right pane of the window and then click on the Delete button. The scenario will be removed from the list and from the tree structure in the left pane.
If you delete a scenario none of the data attached to it will be deleted, as it may be in use by one of the other scenarios. To remove the data, you must go each of the items separately and delete them, eg. calendar, preschedule table, resources, etc. This makes it harder to accidentally delete data.
From the Scenario tab you are able to create new templates, and edit and rename existing templates that are in your project. Templates cannot be deleted from the Scenarios tab.
To create a new template from the Scenario tab, click on the template type for the required scenario in the tree structure. The current list for that template type is displayed on the right pane of the window.
For All Calendars, when you create a new template, you are actually creating a new Calendar Database. Consequently, when you click the New button on the right, you will be presented with the Calendar Database wizard.
For all other template types, click the New button on the right and a template will be added to the list called "NewItem" (or "NewItem(1)", etc, if it already exists). A new template name can be entered immediately or it can later be renamed.
With the exception of the Calendars, all of the templates can be edited from the Scenarios tab. This can be done in either of the following ways:
• | Click on the template type for the required scenario in the tree structure and then click on the required template name on the right pane of the window. Now click the Edit button and the template details will be displayed on the right pane of the window. |
• | Click on the plus sign to the left of the template type for the required scenario in the tree structure to display the selected template name in the tree structure. Then click on the template name in the tree structure and its details will be displayed on the right pane of the window. |
All template types can be renamed from the Scenarios tab. Note that more than one scenario may be linked to a particular template, so be careful when renaming templates.
To rename a template click on the template type for the required scenario in the tree structure and then click on the required template in the list on the right pane of the window. Click the Rename button and then type the new name in for the template.
