The zero test data fields are assigned for each activity in the Productive Activities window. They are used to set the record percentages for each activity right at the start of the schedule, even before the mined out quantities and preschedule percentages are removed. The record percentages that the zero test data field calculates are referred to as the Initial Mine Status.
Each activity should have a zero test data field assigned to it. The zero test data field is either set to Include All Records or to a specific data field in the Main database. It is used as follows.
• | If the value in the zero test data field is greater than zero then that particular activity exists for the record. This means that the activity is available for scheduling and it is assigned an initial value of 100% available. |
• | If the value in the zero test data field is equal to zero then that activity does not exist for the record. This means that the activity is not available for scheduling and it is assigned an initial value of 0% available. |
• | If the value in the zero test data field is less than zero then it is also assumed the activity does not exist for the record. This means that the activity is not available for scheduling and it is assigned an initial value of 0% available. |
If the zero test data field is set to Include All Records, then all records in the database will be assigned an initial value of 100% available for the relevant activity. No data field test will be carried out. Include All Records can be selected from the top of the drop down list.
Consider a project where the activities have been defined as Prestripping, Dragline Operations and Coal Mining. The zero test data fields for these activities might be the Prestrip Volume, the Dragline Total (or Prime) Volume and the Coal Tonnage, respectively.
In a particular block, the total overburden may be thin enough that it can be mined completely by the dragline. Consequently the Prestrip Volume is zero. When the zero test data field is applied, the prestrip activity will be assigned an initial value of 0%, whereas the dragline and coal mining activities will be assigned an initial value of 100%.
