You can perform a number of tasks in the Dependency Rule View, for example, you can create, edit and view the dependency rules within a scenario. The table below describes the options available in the Dependency Rule View:

Description
|
Scenario
|
Select the scenario that you want to use. This determines the dependency rule sets that display in the drop-down list, and which activities are included in the dependency rules.
|
XPAC marks the active scenario with an asterisk.

View Rule Set
|
Select the dependency rule set/s that you want to display in the spatial data plot. You can select:
• | if you do not want to display any rule sets in the plot |
• | to display the rule sets that you select in the data sheet (use the standard / and click functionality to select multiple rule sets) |
• | to display all rule sets in the data sheet in the plot, including rules that are currently being edited |
• | to display rule sets that are active in the selected scenario, including new rule sets recently created (XPAC automatically activates new rules for the selected scenario) |
• | a single rule set to display only that rule set in the spatial data plot. |
|
By default, you can specify the rule set that a plot displays in the Dependencies tab of the plot Properties window. However, when you switch to the dependency mode (by clicking Edit Dependencies on the 3D Graphics toolbar), XPAC no longer displays these dependencies. Instead, you can use the Dependency Rule View to display dependency rules in the plot. Dependency rules that display use the dependency type (successor, predecessor, none or both) and arrow settings as specified in the Dependencies tab of the plot Properties window.

Editing dependency rules
You can use the Dependency Rule View to edit successor and/or predecessor records by:
• | typing a record name in the relevant cell |
• | pressing F2 to edit the current record name |
• | selecting a block in the plot, then dragging and dropping it over the predecessor (or successor) record that you want to edit. You can then change the predecessor and successor activities for each rule by selecting a new activity from the drop-down list in the activity column for the rule. |
