The roster is used to define the normal weekly work hours, but there will often be exceptions to the roster hours. When the exact timing of these exceptions is known, they are called Roster Exceptions.

Examples of Roster Exceptions include public holidays, planned maintenance and mine shut downs.

The Roster Exceptions are entered into a template which can be assigned to many different resources. They consist of a list, where each Roster Exception in the list contains the following information.

Start Date and Time;
Finish Date and Time;
Non Productive Activity Type; and
Recurrence.
