The tools on the 3D Graphics toolbar also let you rotate and pan the spatial data so that you can view it from other angles, or view it as a 3D object. For example, you may want to view blocks that you cannot see when viewing the plot in a top (plan) view.

Note

You can return to the top view at any time in the 3D Scene by:

clicking Top View on the 3D Graphics toolbar; or
pressing Esc.

To rotate a spatial data plot:

1.Rotate the spatial data plot. Either:
a.Select a preset rotation option:
i.Select Graphics > Orientation, then select an option, for example:
Top or Bottom to display the plot using the XY plane;
Front or Back to display the plot using the XZ plane;
Right or Left to display the plot using the YZ plane; or
Isometric to display a 3D view of the plot.
b.Use the mouse to rotate the plot:
i.Right-click and hold anywhere in the 3D Scene.
ii.Drag the cursor in any direction to achieve the rotation that you want.
c.Use the toolbar button and mouse to rotate the plot:

ii.Click and hold anywhere in the 3D Scene.
iii.Drag the cursor in any direction to achieve the rotation that you want.

Note

If you are finding it difficult to control the rotation of the plot using the mouse, you may want to restrict the rotation to a single plane by only moving the mouse in straight lines.

d.Use the arrow keys. Press:
i.up and down arrows to rotate the plot around the X axis
ii.Page Up and Page Down to rotate the plot around the Y axis
iii.left and right arrows to rotate the plot around the Z axis.

2.Drag and drop the plot anywhere in the 3D Scene.

Note

Depending on your scroll wheel configuration, you may also be able to click and hold the scroll wheel to pan a spatial data plot.
