It is possible to copy and paste the cell contents from within data field design to assist with the set up of your data fields.

You can copy and paste a single cell or a range of cells. You should be aware that it would not make sense to paste some cells onto others. For example, a cell from the field type column would not be appropriate for pasting in the protection column.

Select cells by holding the left mouse down on one corner of the range and then dragging your mouse until you have highlighted the cells you want.

When you select cells individually like this, the copy and paste operations apply only to the data field properties in the highlighted range, that is, the contents of the cells. Alternatively, you can select an entire data field by clicking the data field number column on the far left. In this case, the cut and paste operations apply to the data field properties and the data for every record in the database. You can find more information about these facilities under inserting, deleting, moving and copying data fields.

After you have highlighted the range of cells, you can copy and paste in one of three ways.

1.In the highlighted area, right-click to access the Copy and Paste options.
2.On the application menu, select the Edit > Copy or Edit > Paste.
3.Use the Ctrl+C (copy) and Ctrl+V (paste) default hotkey combinations.

Paste options

The Edit application menu lets you select from the following specific paste options:

Paste
Paste Insert - pastes the copied cell into an additional row. It is not possible to paste insert when operating on a range of cells.
Paste Format - pastes the copied cell value and applies originating cell formatting.
Paste Values - pastes the copied cell value without applying originating cell formatting.

After you have copied a range of cells, you can paste them over the top of some exiting cells using the paste option. Paste will always overwrite the existing cell information with the paste information.

If you copy a range of cells them paste them into a single cell, XPAC will position the top left corner of the range of cells on that single cell and paste the rest of the range in the cells down and to the right.
