Data can be exported from any database - main, calendar or results. To export data, you should firstly go to the relevant database. The data export facility is accessed from File on the application menu. Select Export and then select Data. The Data option will not be available if you are in any of the scheduling screens.

Select database range

The first step of the data export process is to select the range of records for which you want to export data. This is done by selecting a database range. If a suitable range does not exist, then click on the Ranges button to create a new range.

Specify a file name

The second step of the data export process is to specify a file name for the exported data. The file may be in any directory and it may have any suffix. Enter a name for the data export file and then click OK.

If you have an existing data export file that you want to update, then it can be selected. An advantage to this is that the header of the file will be read and used for the initial field setup in the data export template.

Database export template

The third step in the data export process is to define a template that is used to control what data will be exported and where it will be placed in the file. It is called the Database Export Template and it is made up of a number of screens as listed below.

Database Export Template Setup Step 1 - used to define the file type.

If the file type selected is Fixed Width:

Database Export Template Setup Step 2 - used to define the field setup.

If the file type selected is Delimited:

Database Export Template Setup Step 2 - used to define the delimiters.
Database Export Template Setup Step 3 - used to define the field setup.

The Database Export template can also be saved so that it can be used at a later stage.
