Data can be imported into any database - main, calendar or results. To import a data file, you should firstly go to the relevant database. The data import facility is accessed from File on the application menu. Select Import and then select Data. The Data option will not be available if you are in any of the scheduling screens.

Select the data file

The first step of the data import process is to locate the file that you wish to import. The file may be in any directory and it may have any suffix. Click here for the rules regarding the data file format. Locate the data file and then click Open to select it for import.

Database import template

The second step in the data import process is to define a template that is used to control where the data in the file will be stored in the selected XPAC database. It is called the database import template and it is made up of a number of screens as listed below.

Database Import Template Setup Step 1 - used to define the file type.

If the file type selected is Fixed Width:

Database Import Template Setup Step 2 - used to define the field setup.

If the file type selected is Delimited:

Database Import Template Setup Step 2 - used to define the delimiters.
Database Import Template Setup Step 3 - used to define the field setup.

The database import template can also be saved so that it can be used at a later stage.
