The analysis reporting tool can be described as a data cube, that provides pivot table-like data filtering and grouping capability. It lets you display complex mine planning and management structures in simple tabular or graphical outputs.
The tool's interface helps you to populate the data cube with selected data from the relevant XPAC databases and/or schedule output paths. The XPAC data fields you select transfer into the data cube as query and calculated fields. This transfer of data occurs at the lowest increment (that is, at the block level for database information), and at the output path step level for schedule-based information.
You can use analysis reports to report:
• | on any XPAC schedule |
• | on the status of the mine as modelled in XPAC |
• | on stockpile records |
• | directly from the XPAC database. |
In each report (as part of the data cube), you can choose to include any number of attributes, examine to any level of your data hierarchies and create your own measures based on the data in your XPAC project. You can also map activities and resources to different measures, giving you different outputs for a measure, depending on the context.
While previous versions of XPAC were capable of producing these reports (using XCM scripts and the Report Writer), analysis reporting lets you create reports more easily and efficiently using user-friendly tools and layout. For example, you can quickly create a report by choosing the fields that you want to include by dragging and dropping them to construct tables, charts and graphs. As you make changes, XPAC automatically updates the preview window. If required, you can also export your analysis reports as XML (MS Excel 2003), PDF or CSV files.
Analysis reports are just one of a number of reporting tools you can use.
