When building your report, use attributes and measures to define your graph or chart output.
These attributes and measures form the rows and columns of the tabular report or the X and Y axis of graphical output. 'Query' or calculated fields are the 'storage boxes' which contain the raw data extracted from the XPAC project.
Attributes represent the categories or the grouping of information and measures provide information about that data (for example, the data name, format, method of aggregation, and so on).
These data types contain the information you imported from your XPAC project, directly corresponding to rows and columns in your various project databases. Your starting set of attributes will depend on the type of report you create. Your starting set of measures will match the database fields you imported.
In addition to your starting data, you can create your own fields. These fields will be based upon your initial data points, but involve other calculations. This might be as simple as changing the format of your data, or more complex, like creating a weighted average field. You can create your own attributes and measures using the expression builder
When you create or open an analysis report, the software queries your XPAC project according to the report schema. As a result, updating your XPAC project, while you have a report open, will not directly update your analysis report.
Always close and re-open your report if you update your project data. |
To update your report data:
1. | If you have just created your analysis report or made changes, save the analysis report. |
2. | Finish making the changes to your XPAC project. |
3. | Re-run the appropriate schedule. This step is only necessary for data that only updates in your database when you run the schedule (i.e. if you need to run a schedule to update your project, you will need to run a schedule to provide the analysis reporting tool with updated data). |
4. | Open the analysis report. |
In some cases, making a change to the report schema will also cause the analysis reports tool to re-query the project for some fields. RPM does not recommend relying on this to update your report.
